WAITARA GOLF PLAY
CROQUET CLUB SEASON OPENS. CRICKET SEASON COMMENCES. A medal round was played on the Manakorihi golf links at Waitara, on Saturday afternoon, the best cards being: O. A. Keith 92-23-68, A. S. McGregor 89-17-72, T. Stockman 91-18-73, S. Richards 83-9-74, D. Locke 101-26-75, R. George 82-6-76, F. Locke 104-24-80, H. Levestam 105-24-81, D. Russell 115-26-89. There was a good attendance of members and visitors at the official opening of the Clifton Park Croquet Club’s season on Saturday. The courts were in good order and played well. An enjoyable afternoon was spent in playing golf croquet and short games. A trophy presented by Mrs. A. H. Ellis was won by Mrs. E. Young. The opening match ■in the Thursday cricket competition will be played on Thursday. The following will represent Waitara against Inglewood at Inglewood: A. Collins, H. Beckbessinger, E. Bowen. J. Priar, L. Jury, H. R. Soffe, E. Blair, W. O’Donnell, O. Foreman, J. R. Bennett, W. Pizzey and J. Goddard. The president, Mrs. J. W. Hamlm, welcomed the visitors, and expressed the hope that the club would have a successful season. The death occurred at Waiongona on Monday morning of Mr. Cuttie Taylor, aged 20 years. He was the third son ot Mr. J. Taylor, and has been an invalid for many years.
