ELTHAM ATHLETICS
CLUB’S ACTIVITIES REVIEWED. SUCCESS OF MEETINGS HELD. The annual report to be presented at the annual meeting of the Eltham Amateur Athletic Club to-morrow evening states the last season’s operations proved the most successful the club has experienced. In addition to the usual club evenings held fortnightly, two notable gatherings were held. The first was the Taranaki sub-centre championships, upon the conduct of which the sub-centre executive congratulated the club. This meeting was held in the afternoon and evening and was entirely successful both financially and as an athletic fixture. The club was fortunate in being allotted the meeting for the visit of the Australian athletes, J. P. Metcalfe, T. E. Hampson and W. E. Barwick, to Taranaki. This was the most successful held in Taranaki in recent years, a record crowd being present. The New Zealand Council through the centre expressed its pleasure upon the manner in which the meeting was conducted. The Australian team showed excellent form and proved to be good sportsmen both on and off the field
The profits from this meeting were £3B 17s 4d, of which the club received the sum of £l5. This amount has helped considerably to make the credit balance of £l7 14s.
