BROWNIE CRUNCH. Make a tcacupful of strong cocoa with milk instead of water, put this into a saucepan, add one pound of demerara sugar and a piece of butter the size of a walnut, and stir over gentle heat till the sugar has dissolved. Boil for about ten minutes, stirring gently all the time. Remove the saucepan from the fire, stir in any kind of chopped nuts, and beat till the mixture is creamy. Turn on to a slightly buttered dish, shape into a block, mark into squares, and leave to set.
