Mrs. R. Muschamp, Waitara, is spending a holiday at Opunake.
Mrs. F. Hammond was hostess at afternoon tea on Friday.
Opunake visitors to the Pungarehu golf ball included Mesdames Brennan, Fraser, Watt, Marcroft, Malcolm, Marcroft, Messrs. H. Fraser, M. Lyttle, G- cr and N. Perry.
Mrs. C. A. Smith entertained a large number of residents at her home on Monday evening, the gathering being organised to assist Womens Institute funds. Games and -ompetitions were enjoyed during the evening. A pleasant little gathering took place at the opening of the croquet lawn on Wednesday when Mrs. Ritchie on behalf of the members presented to Mrs. Jenkin a smal gift, as a token of appreciation of her efforts in connection with the club. Mrs. Jenkin said what she had done had been only a pleasure, and she thanked the secretary, Mrs. Dalrymple, for her thorough work. The Opunake Croquet Club opened the season on Wednesday afternoon when a large crowd was present. The president, Mrs. R. Ritchie, welcomed' the visitors and called on Mrs. T. H. Sinclair to make the first hoop. Mrs. Ritchie was presented with a bouquet by Mrs. P. Dalrymple. Among those present were Mesdames Ritchie, Jenkin, Watt, Dalrymple, Parkes, Heibner, O’Sullivan, Marcroft, Fawcett, R Smith, G. Feaver, Clouston, Gunson, Sinclair, Wallis, Clare, J. S. Hickey, Laing, Misses N. Feaver, Thom and Q. Sinclair. Mesdames Christie, Snowden, Instone, Lane (Manaia), and Clarke, Farquhar, Butler, Weaver and Hawke (Rahotu) were also present.
