ASSAULT DAMAGES
ATTACK MADE ON STORE-KEEPER. ASSAILANT WEARING A MASK. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. Damages amounting to £127 5s 6d, the full amount claimed, were awarded Walter George Hill, manager of the Self Help Store at. Beckenham who proceeded against Trevor Lyall Evans in the Magistrate’s Court to-day. The facts had all been proved in recent criminal proceedings in the Supreme Court for assault in which Evans was fined £5O. On the night of August 8, Evans, wearing a mask, went to Hill’s shop and called him to the door. He struck him blows on the head, finally breaking a bottle of kerosene over his head. Hill suffered severely from shock and has not yet fully recovered.
