WOMEN’S GOLF TOUR

ENGLISH TEAM FOR NEW ZEALAND PROSPECTS FOR COMING SEASON. An English women’s golf team will next year visit Australia and New Zealand, according to Miss Oliver Kay, ex-. New Zealand champion, who has just returned from England, and who mentioned the visit to a Daily News reporter ? at Hawera yesterday. The team, she said, would visit Australia first and would then come on to New Zealand, where the members would take part in the New Zealand championship. It was too early yet to say when the tour would be made, but as all championships in Australia had to be played before September, owing to the great heat after that, it was probable that the team would leave England in July, play in Australia in August and come on to New Zealand for September. Although it was impossible to say who would be in the team, said Miss Kay,. v it was quite likely that Miss Pam Barton, the 17-year-old English girl who , went through to the final of the / championship this year and then won' the French against the strongest pos-to sible competition, would be a member. England had many promising youngsters at the present time and, though Miss Barton at present outshone the rest, it was quite likely by next year that others would have arisen to her present high status in international women’s' golf.
