Invercargill, Last Night A plucked tui with a bullet . mark in its breast; and a dead weka were exhibited’ in the Bluff Magistrate’s Court to-day, when Cyril Joseph Hanning, a Stewart Island ’fisherman, was charged on three counts that he shot native piged£s, a tui and a weka, also that he was in possession of an unregistered- firearm. On Hanning pleading guilty to the charges of shooting pigeons and a tui the charge in respect of the weka was withdrawn owing to the heavy expenses incurred. Hanning was fined £5 in each case, costs and expenses totalling £9 7s Bd. On the charge of possessing an unregistered firearm he pleaded guilty and was ordered to forfeit the rifle and pay costs 10s.
