GOLF MATCHES AT ELTHAM
TRISTRAM CUP FIRST ROUND. YOUNG PLAYERS IN THE LEAD. The first round of the Tristram Cup was played by members of the Eltham Golf Club at the week-end, the best scores being:—J. Casey, 84-21-63; N. Stewart, 86-22-64, and T. Gibson, 83-16-67. These three are the youngest members of the club, their ages ranging from 15 to 17 years, and their performance is a creditable one. Three of the championships of the Tarurutangi club were decided during the week-end, the following being the results: — Men's senior championship: H. Williams beat D. Street, 1 up. Women's senior championship: Miss I. Street beat. Miss H. Murray, 7 and 6. Women’s junior championship: Mrs. Chamberlain beat Miss M. Olson, 4 and 3. The men’s junior title has yet to be decided, the finalists being R. Cartwright and W. Sadler. In the final round for the Wilton Cup Miss H. Murray was five strokes ahead of the runner-up, Mrs. Street.
