LOWER PRICES FOR EGGS
HEAVY EUROPEAN PRODUCTION. AUSTRALIAN SEASON OPENED. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 6.30 p.m. London, Sept. 15. The Australian egg season opened under somewhat inauspicious conditions. England is having an unusually prolonged summer, with the temperature as high as in mid-June. Similar conditions prevail on the Continent, with the result that egg production has been maintained at a very high rate. The market has been flooded with home and Continental eggs. Some weak holders of the latter are selling at an almost give-away price. Thus 171 b Danish have been sold at as low as 10s 6d per 120, with the same weight Lithuanian at Bs. In these conditions the price realised for Australian 161 b, Ils 6d, must be regarded as satisfactory.
