JUNIOR MUSIC LOVERS
FAREWELL EVENING TENDERED.
PROGRAMME AT NEW PLYMOUTH.
A departure from the monthly order of evenings was made by the New Plymouth branch of the' Music Teachers’ Association, junior section, on Saturday, when instead of a theme programme a farewell evening was tendered to Mr. E. J. Reed, a prominent member of the section and a former secretary, who will leave shortly for Wellington. There was a large attendance- at the meeting, which was held at the home of Mrs. T. H. Reed. A programme arranged by Miss. JDeare was presented, and competitions and supper completed the evening. At tire conclusion of the programme occasion was taken by Miss E. L. Dowling, president of the branch, to make Mr. Reed a presentation on behalf of members of the junior section. Miss Dowling referred to the loss to the branch caused by Mr. Reed’s departure. He was the first secretary of the junior branch and an able seconder of her efforts, said MiSs Dowling. Mr. Reed replied. The programme was; Pianoforte solo, “Nalia” (Delibes), Miss Audrey Gilbert; violin solo, “Valse Triste” (Sibelius), Miss E. Royse; elocution, “Opinions on Love,” Miss F. King; songs, “Killarney” and “Many of Argyle,” Miss G. Johnston; pianoforte solo, Sonata (Beethoven), Miss A. Abum; elocution, selection from “The Pied Piper of Hamlin,” Miss Betty Aylward; violin solos, “Orientale” (Cesar Cui) and “Danse Bohemienne” (FrimD, D. Menzies; song, “Cradle Song” (Mozart). J. Reed. Accompaniments were played by Misses V. Ross, K. Royse and v J. Deare. A competition was won by Miss J. McQueen.
