WAIPUKU SOCIAL EVENT
GENERAL AND PERSONAL ITEMS. Mr. Fryday, Rutland Road, recently lent his gymnasium for the purpose of a card party and dance in support of Miss Dolly James, a candidate in the Tariki Women’s Hockey Club queen carnival. There was a large attendance of friends and supporters from Tariki and Midhirst, and an enjoyable time was spent in cards, competitions and dancing. Euchre winners were Miss Olive James (Tariki) and Mr. A. Thompson (Waipuku), with consolation prizes going to Mrs. Bell and Mr. Colson. Music for dancing was supplied by Mr. Harold Humphries. A Monte Carlo dance was won by Mr. J. Trass and Miss L. Hucker, and competitions by Mrs. Hooker and Messrs. Johnson and Weldon. Miss Phyllis Johnson has returned after a holiday at Wanganui. Mr. W. Woodmore, Palmerston North, is visiting Waipuku. Mr. and Mrs. W. Adlam and their small son, who have been the guests of Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Adlam, “Pine Grove,” Croydon Road, have returned to their home.
Mr. and Mrs. J. Hunwick and family have moved from the district to take up a farm near Pio Pio;
Mr. T. Weldon has been the guest of Mr. and Mrs. W. Crosby.
School re-opened last Tuesday after the term holidays with the roll recording the loss of three pupils of the past term and the addition of one new pupil.
