DEATH SENTENCE CONFIRMED
APPEAL OF EDWARD MOREY FAILS NEW SOUTH WALES MURDER CASE By Telegraph—Pi-ess Assn—Copyright. Rec. 8.25 p.m. Sydney, Sept. 14. The Full Court of Criminal Appeal to-day dismissed the appeal of Edward Morey, who was convicted and sentenced to death at Wagga for the murder of Percy Smith. Morey based his appeal on fresh evidence to the effect that Moncrieff Anderson, a local resident, had confessed to the murder of Smith. The court rejected this plea and confirmed the death sentence.
Anderson himself was subsequently murdered and his wife, Lilian Anderson, convicted for the crime on September 7 and sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment.
