OFFICERS OF CRICKET CLUB.

PERSONAL NEWS OF DISTRICT.

The Rev. O. Seamer’s Methodist Maori Choir .paid a visit to Ohura last Thursday, gave an enjoyable entertainment. A very attractive programme was rendered,, songs, haka, ghmes, and instrumental music being much enjoyed by the audience. There are Maori representatives from all over New Zealand in the choir. The Ohura women’s branch of the Labour Party held a “hard up” dance in the town hall oh Friday night, a good number attending. Miss Lacey and Mr. A. Wakeford supplied music. Mr. Coppiestone played extras, and Mr. W. Higgins was master of ceremonies.

The Ohura Cricket Club held a general meeting last Tuesday evening. The vicepresident, Mr. Stuart-Morey, presided. Mr. W. MacClure was added to the committe and Mr. Burton was elected club captain. Mr. R. Milne was appointed vice-captain and Mr. Hi Hunt official scorer and custodian.

Mrs. Barker, Martinborough, is visiting Ohura and is the guest of her mother, Mrs. M. Williams.

Miss Foote, Dunedin, left for western Taranaki during the week after .being the guest of Mrs. Esdaile for. several weeks.

Miss Campbell has arrived in Ohura to take up a position on the staff of the Ohura schobl. Mrs. Wimsett has returned to her home at Marton after spending the holidays with her mother, Mrs. R. D. Esdaile. Mrs. Turnbull has returned from Te Kuiti' where she was the' guest* of her daughter, Mrs. T. Eastwood. The district is looking forward, to a thrilling exhibition of football on Saturday when the club will entertain all comers in the way of “has-beens,”
