GOOD WINS CHAMPIONSHIP
FINAL OF TE NGUTU GOLF EVENT. PENNY’S EARLY LEAD OVERTAKEN' Playing sound and steady golf, M. G. Good won the men’s senior championship of the Te Ngutu Golf Club on Wednesday by defeating H. R. Penny 2 and L A large gallery followed the final, which was decided over 36 holes. The first two holes were halved, Good winning the third and halving the next two. Penny ther had a run and took the 6th and 7th ; n fives, and the Bth in four. Good won the ninth, leaving his opponent 1 up at the turn. The 10th was halved in fives, Penny taking the next, and-Good the 12th. The next two were halved, "nd Penny, by winning the 15th, 17th and 18th, and Good the 16th, was 3 up at the end of the first round.
The first three holes in the second round were halved in fives, Good reducing Penny’s lead by taking the 22nd in three and the 24th in five, after the 23rd had been halved in four. Penny won the next two, and Good the 27th, making Penny 2 up at the turn for home. Penny increased his lead by taking the 28th in five, but Good came with a rush and won the next four holes, putting him 1 up. Penny squared the match at the next, but Good, in taking the next two holes, won the match. Periny won- the event last- year.
