CHANGEABLE WEATHER
LOW TEMPERATURES LIKELY.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night.
The weather is expected to be changeable in the North Island, with occasional showers in the northern and east coast parts, but soon improving, says the 4 p.m. forecast. Otherwise conditions should be fair to fine and cold, with many frosts, but becoming milder tomorrow. Variable winds are expected south of Westport and Kaikoura, with northerlies predominating in the far south. Elsewhere there will be fresh to strong southerlies, decreasing gradually and later veering to westerly and northwesterly from Cook Strait southwards. Seas will be rough north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura, but soon moderating elsewhere.
An anti-cyclone with its centre over the north Tasman Sea extends on to New Zealand, but pressure is still rather low to the east, and a fresh depression is now crossing Tasmania.
