The Kini discharged a quantity of coal at New Plymouth yesterday and later sailed for Lyttelton and Timaru. (U.S.S. Co) The Totara arrived at New Plymouth yesterday from Wellington. She is scheduled to return to Wellington to-day. She is due at New Plymouth again on September 20. (U.S.S. Co.). The John left Manukau Heads at 12.5 pm. on Tuesday and was expected at New Plymouth last night, having been delayed by south-easterly gales. She will proceed to Wanganui and Greymouth today. ' (Hooker Bros.). The Breeze from Dunedin via southern ports is due at New Plymouth tb-day and will sail the following day for Wellington, Bluff and Dunedin. (Collett and Co.). The Poolta loaded at Greymouth on Wednesday for Westport, Wellington and New Plymouth. She is due at New Plymouth to-day. (U.S.S. Co.). The Hauturu was bar-bound at Onehunga and is now expected at New Plymouth to-day to discharge 140 tons of general cargo. She will return to Onehunga Wanganui the same day. (Northern Co,). The Holmdale loaded at Dunedin on Wednesday for New Plymouth, via Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, picton, NelsOn and Wanganui. She is due at New Plymouth to-day. (Hooker Bros.). The Opihi from Dunedin, Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton and Wellington, Is due at New Plymouth next Saturday and will proceed to Nelson, Wellington and Dunedin. (U.S.S. Co.). The Storm left Dunedin On Monday for New Plymouth, via ports. She is due at New Plymouth on Saturday ahd will sail the same day for Wellington. (Collett and Co.). The Parera -was scheduled to load at Dunedin on Tuesday for New Plymouth via southern ports.. She is due at New Plymouth on Sunday aftd will proceed to Port Waikato the same day. (Hooker Bros. Ltd.). The Paua is due at New Plymouth from Wellington on September 25 to discharge bulk petrol. She will return south the same day, (Shell Co.) MOVEMENTS OF OVERSEAS SHIPS. TEKOA IN PORT. The Tekoa arrived at New Plymouth yesterday to load 14,375 freight carcases of meat and 2000 boxefe of butter before proceeding to-morrow to Wellington, Napier, Gisborne and Auckland to complete. SHIPPING statistics.

On December 31, 1933, there were on the Register of Vessels in the Dominion 56 sailing vessels of 4809 tons register, 211 steamers of 57,847 tons register, and 249 motor-vessels of 8939 tons register, as compared with 58 sailing veSels of 5380 tons register, and 236 motor-vessels of 8800 tong register at the end of the previous year, states the annual report of the Marine Department. The number of seamen employed on board was 3431, as compared with 3560 for 1932. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS.
