JACK RURU MEMORIAL CUP
DOMINION RUGBY UNION TROPHY. COMPETITION BY MAORI TEAMS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Notification that a gold cup in memory of the late Mr. Jack Ruru, a wellknown Maori footballer, had been presented for annual competition among Maori players was received by the management committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union to-night. The trophy, which was presented by Mr. Ruru’s father, Mr. Henare Ruru, and his cousin, Mr. H. R. H. Balneavis, Wellington, is to be known as the Jack Ruru Memorial Cup, and the donors expressed the wish that the cup be played for in conjunction with the annual match for the Prince of Wales Cup between Maori representative teams.
