Miss O. Kay, New Zealand, and J. Ferrier, Manly, retained the Australian golf mixed foursomes title, their 159 being eight strokes better than their nearest opponents. They did 77 fOr the first 18 holes and led A. S. Deane and Miss Wray by two strokes. Playing steadily, although missing some six and eight foot putts, they again led the field with 82 in the afternoon.
Miss Kay caused a sensation among the crowd at the eighth hole of 140 yards when she went within an inch of holing out in one. McPherson and Miss B. Gaisford, New Zealand, in the afternoon went round in 89, for an aggregate of 173. Miss Gaisford showed signs of fatigue after a strenuous week’s golf, but relaxed when she realised the problem she was up against. In the mixed foursomes handicap of 18 holes the winners were A. S. Deane and Miss Wray 79—6—73. Ferrier and Miss Kay (scratch), were fifth with a net 77.
