MOTOR-CYCLE SILENCER
BETTER DEVICE EVOLVED. ELIMINATION OF NOISE. (British Official Wireless.) Rec. 5.5 p.m. Rugby, Sept 10. At the British Association a demonstration was given of a new type of motorcycle silencer which, it is claimed, will eliminate the noise of a machine's exhaust and which has been perfected as the result of investigations made following the inquiry into the question of decreasing street noises. Sir Henry Fowler, chairman of the association’s committee which has been investigating the subject and who is now chairman of the Ministry of Transport committee dealing with the same question, attended the trial which was carried 'out by Wing-Commander Caye-Brown-Cave, who states that not only was a great reduction in noise effected but when compared with many other types of silencers resulted in a small increase in horse power.
