UNSETTLED WEATHER
IMPROVEMENT EXPECTED, By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The weather is expected to be mainly fair to fine in the South Island, but still unsettled and showery in the North Island, further heavy showers being likely between Cook Strait and East Cape, states the forecast issued at 4 p.m. Conditions are gradually improving. Temperatures will be low, with severe frosts in the south. Southerly winds still strong to gale force about and north cf Cook Strait, but gradually decreasing, are expected, Elsewhere they will be light to moderate and becoming variable. Seas will be heavy between Kaikoura and East Cape, moderate south of Farewell Spit and Banks Peninsula and elsewhere rough. Pressure is still low in the north and to the eastward, but an anti-cyclone is advancing gradually on to the Dominion.
