RHODES SCHOLARSHIPS
TWO NOMINEES FROM AUCKLAND. TIMARU AND AUCKLAND MEN. . By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Sept 10. ’' Auckland University College nominees for the Rhodes Scholarship; selected today, are Mr. John Derek Lewis’and Mr. Eric Percival Haslam.' Mr. Lewis is 21 years of age, an old boy of King’s College. He won a University National Scholarship in 1932 and is on the executive of the Students’ Association. He is a keen cricketer, having captained the Auckland junior representatives in 1931 and has since played senior grade. Mr. Haslam, who is 22, is an old boy of the Southland and Timaru Boys’ High Schools. He was dux of Timaru in 1930 and won a University Entrance Scholarship. He has graduated 8.A., and is now reading for honours in economics. He is president of the Students’ Association.
