A TRANSITIONAL PHASE
MINISTER OF FINANCE HOPEFUL CHALLENGE OF CHANGING WORLD. ‘‘lt is our good fortune to-day, as it is our responsibility and special task also, to be faced with a deeply interesting and transi- : tional phase in national and economic affairs. The challenge of the changing world is too obvious to be ignored. We must adapt ourselyes to it, or suffer the consequences of our neglect. “Of no industry or section of the community is this more true, than it is of the dairying industry and of New Zealand farmers. Both in production and in marketing and distribution j they have new problems that call for unending attention and co-operation. - “Personally, I am confident that, despite immediate difficulties that loom large, the future can be secure and bountiful; arid just as we look back with satisfaction to the achievements of those who laid the foundations of the country’s dairying industry, so those who come after us will view the special problems of to-day as stepping stones towards solid progress.” J. G. COATES, Minister of Finance.
