IMPROVING QUALITY

STERILISING FARM UTENSILS. The urgent need of improved methods to-day to insure better quality milk, butter and cheese is being widely recognised by farmers throughout the Dominion who have learnt that the first essential is care with the raw product. For this reason milking machines and dairy utensils, generally, must be thoroughly sterilised to check the harmful effect of bacteria harboured in dirty machines, cans and buckets. „ During the last few years the “Victor bailer and steriliser, patented and manufactured solely by the well-known Taranaki firm of F. D. Mclntyre Ltd., Plumbers, South Road, New Plymouth, and late of Hawera, has been in increasing demand as a means of guaranteeing the utmost cleanliness in farm utensils. These boilers are designed for supplying boiling water and steam for use in the milking shed and are recommended by dairy experts as the heater which combines economy and efficiency so necessary in dairy work. The “Victor” requires no storage nor supply tank and is ready for immediate use on delivery. These heaters are in use by the New Zealand Government on State farms and have proved equal to any demand made upon them. If required they . can be equipped with a tray and sterilising lid enabling the steam to be controlled and utilised in sterilising the milking machines, cans, and all parts and appliances of the milking plant. „ Tests carried out with the Victorproved that, in one case, where the boiler was fired with light wood the steam temperature after it had passed through 40ft. of the lin. tubing, was 515 degrees. In another instance under actual working conditions where the boiler was well fired with dry wood and placed outside the shed 20ft. of lin. pipe was used to convey the steam to the milking plant. The temperature of the steam after passing through a 6-cow plant was 210 deg. Install a “Victor” boiler and steriliser and add your name to the 700 odd satisfied “Victor” users in New Zealand today.
