HAWERA R.S.A. OFFICERS
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING. CHANGES IN OFFICE BEARERS. A meeting of the executive committee of the Hawera Returned Soldiers’ Association was held on Friday. Those present were Messrs. M. C. Crighton (in the chair), A. E. Stevens, J. B. Harrop, W. Cran, D. McCormick, F. C. Foden, W. H. James, M. J. Squire, R. McCay and the secretary (Mr. S. R. Veitch). An apology for absence was received from Mr. M. R. Jones (president). Mr. D. McCormick was appointed treasurer to replace Mr. S. R. Veitch, appointed secretary. The vacancy on the executive has been filled by Mr. R. McCay. Mr. F. E. Clarke resigned his appointment as auditor of the National War Funds Council and it was accepted with regret. The secretary was instructed to forward a- letter of appreciation. The appointment of a successor was deferred until the next meeting. A number of new members was elected. Mr. D. McCormick was appointed to the management committee in place of Mr. S. R. Veitch. Mr. S. R. Veitch was appointed a Poppy Day trustee in place of Mr. R. McCay.
Mr. F. C. Foden was appointed an inspector of the National War Funds Council to control grants to unemployed and others receiving assistance from the council. Mr. Foden is to hold office during the currency of the present financial year.
