Bobby Pearce, professional world sculling champion, said to-day that he may not be able to accept the invitation to compete in special races at the Melbourne Centenary, as the trip would require three months, and he thinks he could not spare the time. He will probably row against Eric Phelps in England if Phelps succeeds in arranging a £5OO stake.
