The bout was colourful, Mamos getting a bad deal from the referee, who was frequently hooted and counted out. Sonnenberg, in the sixth round, was momentarily disabled when he crashed to the canvas through missing a flying tackle. At the Leichhardt Stadium, George Pencheff and Joe Dawson secured one fall each. The referee awarded a draw. Tommy Nylan and Billy Meeske drew at Brisbane, one fall each.
