SOUTHAMPTON PORT BUSY
MOST CROWDED FOR SOME YEARS. VESSELS ON HOLIDAY CRUISES. British Wireless. Rugby, Sept. 7. The port of Southampton is in the midst of one of the most crowded periods it has experienced in the past two or three years and it is estimated that in the three days ending to-morrow the tonnage of shipping arriving and departing will total about 649,000. The vessels beirg handled include 27 liners. Four arrivals and five departures are of liners concluding or setting out on holiday cruises, and eight ships leaving port are taking returning holi-day-makers back to the United States.
