CALF CLUB AT AWAKINO
SUCCESSFUL CARD PARTY HELD. STRANDED LAUNCH REFLOATED. The fortnightly euchre party and. dance in aid of calf club funds was held in the Awakino hall on Saturday evening and was most successful. Prizes for euchre were won as follows: Ladies, Miss M. Bartlett 1, Mrs. N. Bryant 2; men, N. Bryant 1, H. Bryant 2. Consolation prizes went to Miss A. McDavitt and Mr. H. Purcell. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss M. Bartlett and Mr. S. Hart. Music for the dance was supplied by Mr. L. Bryant. The master of ceremonies was Mr. B. Bryant.
After being stranded on the Awakino River bar for several days, Mr. W. Winstanley’s launch "was refloated on the spring tide. Miss Nita Garcia, New Plymouth, is the guest of Mrs. N. R. Jones.
Mrs. A. C. Richards is spending a month at Napier. Mrs. J. McNeice has returned from Wanganui. Miss H. McMiken has returned from Hamilton.
Mr. and Mrs. N. R. Calvert and Mr. C. A. Calvert, after spending a holiday with Mrs. N. R. Jones, returned to Auckland on Saturday.
Mrs. P. Herbert returned from New Plymouth at the week-end. Mrs. Butler has returned from Taumarunui.
