TANGARAKAU UNITED DANCE
GENERAL AND PERSONAL ITEMS. The united dance held in the Tangarakau hall on Thursday in aid of the school funds proved a success. The music was supplied by Hooker’s Merrymakers’ band. . The supper was in the
able hands of Mesdames Manning and jg Mallet, the tables being decorated with spring blooms given by Mrs. Shanks. ~ After the dance the flowers were sold r to aid the funds. The supper committee ' was Mrs. Kerns, Misses Shanks, Nelson, Sinclair and Mallet. s Ti.o dances were presented by Miss 0 Petersen, Wanganui, and a poem was 7 recited by Miss Mallett. Mrs. Stark 1 played extras. Competitions were won ® by Mrs. Smiles, Patea, and Mr. P. Mallett. Monte Carlo waltzes were won by y Mr. and Mrs. Millar and Miss A. Mc--6 Cartie and partner. A statue log cabin r was won by Miss Mouton and partner, 1 while Mr. Rosewarne and Mrs. York won 2 a waltzing competition. Mr. Mallett was 2 master of ceremonies. f Mr. Sinclair, on behalf of the school, 1 praised the railway social committee for , combining so well under the direction of - Mr. Mallett. I Egmont Collieries’ huts are being dismantled and are to be taken to > Tatu, where the company is to open a . new mine. Mr. and Mrs. Lynch and family have , left to take up their residence at Strati ford. i Miss Una Betts has returned from a , holiday spent with Mrs. Hogg, Midhirst. ! Motion pictures were shown in the ( Tahora hall for the first time on Friday I night. People in the district walked as much as five miles to be present. Mr. F. Betts has returned from a J short holiday as the guest of Mr. C. ' Henderson, Tuna.
