CYCLING AT INGLEWOOD
KENNEDY WINS; FUSSELL FASTEST. \ The Inglewood Cycle Club continued its series of road races on Thursday afternoon, when a race to the Waiwakaiho River and back via Mountain Road was held. A good field faced the starter and excellent time was made, on the outward trip. On the home trip the scratch rider gained but failed to catch the limit men. A mile from home a number of riders bunched and in a good sprint R. Kennedy beat Fussell by a very narrow margin. ' Details are: R. Kennedy BJm. 1, F. Fussell 31m. 2, N. Bennett sm. 3, L. Standing sm. 4. Fussell gained fastest time. •_.’•> -. : ' ' Mr. H. McLaggan Farewelled. On the eve of his departure for Raetihi Mr. H. McLaggan was entertained by the Inglewood Rugby League Foot’ ball Club. Owing to the president, Mr. W. J. Smith, being unable to be present, the chair was taken by Mr. W. G. Ladbrook, vice-president. In making a presentation of a leather wallet Mr. Ladbrook paid a-, tribute to Mr. McLaggan for his ability as a-football player and for his personal qualities, both on and off the field. ’Other speakers were Messrs. G. Hall, C. Hunt and R. Coles. Mr. McLaggan replied. / Taranaki Regiment Parade. The fortnightly parade of the Inglewood platoon of the Ist Battalion Taranaki Regiment was well attended. Major F. S. Varnham inspected the platoon and expressed himself as being very pleased with the efficiency and appearance of the men. He also gave a short address. Captain F. L. Hunt, N.Z.S.C., was also present. A moving picture was shown of a company in attack and bridging a stream, Major Varnham supplementing with a verbal description of the operations.
