DRAINAGE CAMP STRIKE MEN BLACK-LIST THE WORK. DISSATISFACTION WITH WAGES. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Hamilton. Sept. 7. Claiming that under their present rates of pay they were suffering undue hardship, the full complement of 20 men on a Public Works camp drainage scheme at Tauhei downed tools this mprning and went to Hamilton to meet officials of the department in an endeavour to secure better conditions. Unless the representations are materially recognised, it is the intention of the men to leave the camp permanently and black-list it as a warning to others. They maintain that they are getting only 30s a week. Twenty married men with families at the camp are affected. The womenfolk endorse the action. Other camps in the district are affected.
