CHILD STRUCK BY MOTOR
RAN OUT FROM BEHIND BUS. ACCIDENT ON AVENUE ROAD. Struck by a passing motor-car as she ran across the road from behind a bus, a six-year-old child, Betty Whitcombe, was taken to the New Plymouth Has-, pital yesterday afternoon suffering from facial cuts and head injuries. The accident occurred at the southern end of the railway settlement on Avenue Road, near the home of the child's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Whitcombe, Avenue Road, at about 3.30 p.m. The motor-car, driven by. Mr. Adolph’ Miller, a farmer at Korito, was passing a stationary borough bus when the child ran across the road from behind the bus to pick up a purse she had dropped. She was struck unconscious by the car.
The child's mother, who was present at the time, and the driver immediately picked her up and drove her into the town, where she was attended by Dr. Gray and later removed to hospital.
