EXTENSION OF PARLIAMENT

WELLINGTON PROTEST MEETING.

GOVERNOR-GENERAL CALLED UPON

By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night.

Four resolutions, each criticising some phase of the Government’s administration, with particular emphasis on the extension of its term of office, were adopted at a large public meeting in the Wellington town hall to-night. The speakers, all of whom were Parliamentarians, were Messrs. H. M. Rushworth, A. J. Stallworthy, R. McKeen and H. Atmore.

A motion was carried asking the Government to resign in November and go to the country and, in the event of refusal, calling on the Governor-General to dissolve Parhament upon that date.
