AMORTISATION PRINCIPLE
DOMINION MORTGAGE BURDEN. SUPPORT BY FARMERS’ PRESIDENT. Interviewed yesterday Mr. H. E. Blyde, president of the North Taranaki provincial executive of the Farmers’ Union, said he was pleased to see the comments of the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates regarding the placing of farm costs on a more satisfactory basis —on the amortisation principle. It would mean placing farm finance on a much sounder basis, said Mr. Blyde. The Farmers’ Union at its annual conference had brought forward and discussed the principle, and although no definite conclusion was arrived at the question had exercised the minds of the union for some time. Had all farmers in the past been placed on that system the establishment of such a sinking fund would have meant that they would have been paying off their principal, and many now in an embarrassing position to-day would have had a brighter outlook, Mr. Blyde concluded.
