TRAFFIC INSPECTOR ACTIVE
OHURA COUNTY DRIVERS FINED. In the Taumarunui Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, before Mr. W. H. Woodward, S.M., two Ohura county residents were prosecuted by Mr. J. H. Delves, traffic inspector, for breaches of the motor regulations. In each case the offenders were convicted, one being ordered to pay the costs of the prosecution, and the other was fined 10s. and costs 12s. N. E. Margan (Matiere) was charged with using a motor-lorry on the Mangapara Road at a time when the road was closed to heavy traffic by the Ohura County Council. It was pointed out by the traffic inspector -that- the road cost , the- council.
• £1460 to metal, and defendant had carted a log on the road on July 24 when the thoroughfare was closed to heavy traffic. The log in question contained 1470 feet of timber, and the total weight, of the log and the lorry was in the vicinity of 6 tons. He would not ask for a heavy penalty, and had brought the action so that it would be a warning to other lorry drivers. Defendant was convicted and ordered to pay 12s costs. For driving a motor-lorry at Ohura on July 24. without having. a mirror and periscope attached to the vehicle, Hugh H. Haise was convicted and fined 10s and costs 12s.
