HAY AND ENSILAGE JUDGED

NGAERE AND CARDIFF ENTRIES. FIELD DAY ASPECT AT NGAERE. Combined with the judging of hay and ensilage, conducted at Ngaere yesterday by Mr. J.' M. Smith of the Department of Agriculture, was a field day that attracted a large following of settlers. Besides visiting the entries in the competition the party inspected numerous crops and pastures on which Mr. Smith; commented, pointing out desirable' pas-; tures and any apparent faults. .... i Mr. Smith congratulated competitors on the quality of the entries and mentioned that the winning ensilage stack, scored only two points less than the champion pit of North Taranaki. The party was given afternoon tea by Mrs. A. Slattery to whom thanks were, rendered on behalf bf the gathering by Mr. H. C. Tayler. ' The president, Mr. L. C. Harrison, proposed a vote of thanks to Mr. Smith. Details of the judging are:—
