RADNOR ROAD NOTES

FINAL EUCHRE PARTY SUCCESS. There was a record attendance of nearly 70 at the final of the series of euchre parties in the Radnor School to augment the funds of the tennis club on Friday. Visitors were present from Denbigh Road, Midhirst and Stratford. The prizewinners were: Ladies, Miss Bertha Yandle 1, Mrs. J. G. Vickers 2 (after playing off with Miss I. Vickers and Miss O. Rookes); men, Mr. E. Fear 1, Mr. N. Mills 2. After supper had been served by the young people Mr. E. Fear, president of the tennis club, thanked everyone for their support during the series of euchre parties and especially those from Denbigh Road who, by their regular attendance, had helped to make the parties the success they had been. He also thanked Mr. and Mrs. S. Reid for their untiring efforts, Mr. Reid in preparing the school, and Mrs. Reid, as secretary. He presented Miss Irene Vickers and Mr. P. Andersen with the points prizes for the series. It was the third year in succession that Mr. Andersen had won it. Opportunity was taken to make Mr. Desmond Andersen a presentation in recognition of his services as musician. Both Mr. P. Andersen and Mr. D. Andersen briefly replied. Three cheers were given for Mrs. E. A. Vickers, who had presented the ladies points prize.

Dancing was enjoyed to inusic supplied by Messrs J. Reade and D. Andersen on the accordeon. Mr. Reade played an extra on the mouth organ. Winners of the novelty dances were: Monte Carlo waltz, Mr. H. Mills and Miss L. Irving; bobbing waltz, Miss B. Yandle and Mr. N. Mills; statue log cabin, Miss B. Hunt and Mr. J. Yandle. A picture was won by Mr. J. Reade. Messrs S. Reid and C. Kelly were masters of ceremonies. ,

Mrs. McGlaughlin is. the guest of Mrs. M. Davis. Mrs. J. B. Hunt has returned from her holiday with Mrs. A. L. Winter, Richmond Road, Inglewood. An enjoyable evening was spent recently at the home of Mr. and Mrs. G. Vickers when they held a flag bridge evening. Nine tables were occupied and the prizewinners were Mrs. C. Carroll, Mrs. V. Carroll and Mr. P. Ducey, with the runners-up Mr. and Mrs. L. Vickers and Miss Hunt.

Mrs. W. Watts has returned home. Mrs. R. Smith and Mrs. Raine, Wanganui, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Mapp. Miss N. Mapp is confined to her bed with bronchitis.

Miss Nellie Algie is visiting Matapu.
