WESTOWN SCHOOL BALL

CHILDREN IN FANCY DRESS. LARGE CROWD ATTENDS. The annual fancy dress ball is a red letter occasion in the primary school child’s year, and the splendid attendance at the Westown school’s annual function last night showed that there is no falling off in the popularity of these events. The children enjoyed every minute of the time and entered into'the spirit of the dances with great zest. The confident manner in which they tackled even the most intricate of steps demonstrated that they had been, well taught. Another pleasing feature was the singing by the children as they danced. This was remarkably good, and produced a striking effect. The dancing was controlled by the staff under the headmaster, Mr. H. L. Wagstaff, and the general conduct and demeanour of the children reflected credit upon the teachSupper of savouries and cakes was provided by the ladies’, committee. The;, children were organised into two relays,, and each child was presented with a small basket of home-made sweets.
