BACHELORS’ DANCE HELD
MANGAMINGI DISTRICT NEWS. The bachelors of Matemateonga held a successful dance in the Mangamingi hall on Friady night, a representative crowd being present from the surrounding district. The committee responsible for the dance comprised Messrs. F. Young (chairman), R. Ward, C. Gear, A. Willshaw, D. Emmett, A. Hopkins and W. Hamilton. The hall was decorated with ferns and greens. Messrs. Young and Konkins were masters of ceremonies, and Sait’s orchestra played the music, extras being given by Messrs. Walsh and Emmett. Novelty dance winners were: Monte Carlto one-step, Miss and Mr Hamilton; statue waltz, Mr. C. Tonks and Miss Carman; mystery man, Mr. L. Pennington; mystery lady, Miss Gear. . Mr. P. L. Hickey met with a painful accident on Friday. He was chopping wood when the axe slipped, cutting a severe gash in the top of his foot which necessitated four stitches. Mr. Hickey had 'only recently recovered from an appendicitis operation. Mr. W. Boddie is visiting friends at Thames.
