Rec. 10 p.m. Paris, Aug. 2. The newspaper Le Journal alleges that the Strasburg newspaper Eluesser three days before Dr. Dollfuss was assasinated received photographs and captions dealing with events at Vienna with instructions to use them at a suitable moment under the heading “Popular Rising in Austria.”
The captions, it is stated, included news of the blowing up of the Vienna radio station, the rebel occupation of the Chancellery, the death of Dr. Dollfuss, the arrest of Major Fey and Dr. Rintelen’s formation of a new Government. Le Journal comments: “So Berlin knew Dr. Dollfuss was to be assassinated.”
