HEAVY FINES FOR A CHINESE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Invercargill, Aug.. 3. As the result of a raid on a Chinese laundry, George Chong was fined £lOO for being in possession of prepared opium’ and £2OO for permitting the premises to be used for the purpose of smoking Opium. Chin Yet Foo, who was regarded by the magistrate as the only customer, was fined £25.
