KAIMATA DANCE CROWDED
GENERAL AND PERSONAL NEWS. There was an exceptionally good attendance at a dance held by young people in the Kaimata hall on Thursday night. Over 260 dancers were present, being the largest number the hall had accommodated for several years. Large parties were present from Stratford, Inglewood and Waitara, as well as numbers from all the districts within a radius of many miles. The masters of ceremony were Messrs. G. and R. Klenner and W. Spray. During the evening Mr. Turi Martin sang and Mr. Stewart Gordon entertained. A waltzing competition drew a good field, and the judge, Mr. Ballinger, had a difficult task to select the winners, who were Mr. J. Halpin and Mrs. Burke. A Monte Carlo dance was won by Mr. G. Herlihy and Miss M. Potroz. Music was played by Hooker’s Melodymakers. The doorkeepers were Messrs. J. V. Buchanan and W. Spray. . At a meeting of the Kaimata Badminton Club it was decided to hold an official opening on Wednesday. Mr. C. Evans, who has been an inmate of the New Plymouth hospital for some weeks as the result of a motor accident, has returned home.
Miss V. L. Mullan is spending the week-end at Makahu. Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Mounsey. Purangi, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. Collingwood, Junction Road.
