USE MORE MILK
INAUGURATION OF CAMPAIGN. REQUEST TO MINISTER. To inaugurate a campaign to encourage the use of more milk and cheese the Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. C. E. Macmillan, has been asked to convene a meeting of the Dairy Produce Board, the National Dairy Association and the New Zealand Manufacturers’ Federation. Some time ago the Manufacturers Federation made an offer to co-operate with the dairy industry in any campaign which might be launched to stimulate the demand for milk products, especially fresh milk and cheese, in the Dominion. This offer was prompted by the desire of those engaged in manufacturing industries to assist their fellow-producers in the dairying industry in the difficult period through which the latter industry is now passing. The Dairy Produce Board and the National Dairy Association have expressed their cordial appreciation ,pf the offer, and intimated that they will gratefully accept the co-operation of the Manufacturers’ Federation in. planning and conducting such a campaign. Accordingly the Minister of Agriculture has been asked to convene a meeting of th. three bodies, and it is expected that action will be taken at an early date. The suggestion has now been made that other organisations, such as chambers tn commerce, may be willing to assist in the campaign, and an invitation to cooperate has been addressed to the Newspaper Proprietors’ Association. The basis of the scheme is that each participating body shall bear the cost of that portion of the scheme for the carrying-out of which it is prepared to make iteelf responsible.
