CHARGES OF COUNTERFEITING ADMISSION BY FATHER AND SON. GUILT DENIED BY THE MOTHER. POLICE RAID AUCKLAND HOME. . By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The recent seizure by the police at a house in Orakei Road, Remuera, of a number of spurious coins and a complete counterfeiting plant led to the appearing in the Supreme Court to-day of William Leonard Bishop, aged 51, a builder, his wife, Gwendoline Bishop, aged 47, and their son, Denniston Leonard Bishop, aged 19, for trial on a series of charges. Mr. Justice Fair presided and the Crown was represented by Mr. Hubble and the accused by Mr. Sullivan. The father and son were jointly charged with having in their possession a mould intended to make a resemblance of both sides of current silver coin, with making counterfeit silver coins, with intent to make them resemble current silver coins, and with having in their possession three, or more counterfeit silver coins with intent to utter them. Two charges of uttering coin were also preferred against the father. Gwendoline Bishop was charged with having in her possession three or more counterfeit silver coins with intent to utter them. She was also charged on two counts with uttering. Both the male accused pleaded guilty to all charges and were remanded for sentence. Gwendoline Bishop pleaded not guilty. After evidence had been heard the case was adjourned.
