Great interest is being taken in the Taranaki Women’s Club's newly formed gardening circle, the membership of which is increasing with each talk and demonstration. Seeds have been sown and seedlings pricked out, and members have worked with pruning saws nd secateurs. Jt Is hoped that great displays of hydrangeas and roses will result from these activities. Th? great charm of the meetings is that they are held :.s much as possible out of doors. Therefore, while the members are acquiring garden lore they are also enjoying the beauties of nature.

The recently formed sewing and home craft circle had an interesting afternoon in the demonstration kitchen at “Scotlands” on Monday last, when Miss Stewart, B.H.Sc., of the New Plymouth Girls’ High School staff, gave a lecture, with practical demonstrations, on oranges and lemons. The food value ar ' vitamin content of oranges and lemons, and their uses in the diet were dealt with, followed by the making of several delicious dishes. After the demonstration afternoon tea was dispensed by Miss D. N. Allan, principal of the Girls’ Hi ’i School.

The arts and crafts circle has resumed activities, and the members are busily engaged in .ampshades, marquetry, glass petal jewellery and chain bead jewellery on gold and silver.
