SHOT THROUGH THE HEART
APPARENT SUICIDE AT MARTON. By Telegraph—Press Association. Marton, Last Night. Unusual circumstances are attached to the death of a young man at Turakina on Thursday night, Roy Podjursky, aged 19, being found dead with a bullet wound in the heart. It appears that Podjursky, who was engaged to a young woman, took exception to her friendliness towards another young man. He left the house of the girl’s parents at 8.30 p.m., went to the house of a friend and borrowed a gun “to kill a cat.” He returned to the home of his fiancee and just opposite the house shot himself through the heart, the trigger being released by a strap tied to the fence. When found he was wearing on his little finger an engagement ring, apparently returned by . his fiancee.
It is understood he gave no indication of suicidal intent. An inquest was held late this afternoon.
