FALSE PRETENCES CHARGE
EVIDENCE TAKEN AT WELLINGTON. NECESSARY FOR EXTRADITION. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, May 31. In order to extradite from England Ernest Mabin Gilmour, a New Zealand company manager, who was arrested in London on a charge of obtaining £2OO by false pretences in Wellington in 1930, it is necessary that a full copy of the evidence be sent to England, and the taking of this commenced before Mr. E. Page, S.M., to-day. The chief witness is the liquidator of the Craftsman Manufacturing Company. Detective-Sergeant Jarrold has gone to Melbourne to bring back Charles Ernest Vickers, an Australian company promoter, who was arrested at Melbourne on a charge of obtaining £lOOO at Manaia by false representation regarding the Craftsman Manufacturing Company. It is not necessary to take evidence at this stage in connection with Vickers.
