ARAWHATA BEATS HOME TEAM. The great surprise of the first night of the Pungarehu tug-of-war tournament last night was the defeat of the home side, winner of the recent New Plymouth tournament, by Arawhata. A large crowd was present and the pulls were generally very exciting. Results are as follows:— First Round. Lighthouse beat Purangi by four inches. Rahotu beat Bunkum Boys by three inches.
