OHURA DISTRICT NEWS

REST ROOM AND CROQUET CLUB. REVIEW OF ACTIVE YEAR. A meeting of citizens and farmers was held in the Ohura council chambers on Saturday when it was decided, to form a bowling club and a committee was set up to obtain information and report at an early date. The Ohura Ladies Rest Room Association and Croquet Club’s annual meeting was held on Saturday, when Mrs. Loft, the president, made her annual report. She reported a successful year for the association and said that interest had been well maintained. Membership had been considerably increased notwithstanding the loss of some very valuable members who have left the district. There were now 30 active financial members in the association of whom 20 are also members of the Croquet Club. During the year a lawnmower and grass catcher was purchased, and minor furnishing to the rest room added. The association commenced the year with a cash balance of £5 15s 3d which now stood at £5 4s 2d. Those present at the meeting were Mesdames Loft (president), Gee, Allen, Robinson, Wakeford, Boisen, Mackay, Wilkie, Misses Risk (2) and Dickens. Personal. Miss Joan Graham has returned to her home at Wanganui, after a holiday as the guest of Mrs. Turnbull. Miss Ella Turnbull has returned to Wanganui College after the vacation. Mr. and Mrs. Kibblewhite who have been the guests of Mrs. Wills for the school holidays have returned home. Miss Henderson has returned to Ohura after the holidays. Misses Butcher and Mac Kinney have returned from a holiday. Misses Marshall and Crossman have returned from their vacation. Mrs. Telfar, Auckland, who has been the guest of Mrs. Hedley Loft, has returned. Mrs. E. Currie who has been spending a short holiday in Stratford has returned home.
