INCREASED TRAM REVENUE

POSITION AT NEW PLYMOUTH H.M.S. DUNEDIN’S VISIT. Tramway revenue at New Plymouth during April increased by £llB 15s Bd, compared with the figures for the corresponding period last year. Reporting to the Borough Council yesterday, the manager (Mr. G. J. Wyatt) stated that the earnings last month were £1265 3s from 157,176 passengers, 15,098 passengers more than last April. Throughout the period traffic was generally very good. No doubt the visit of H.M.S. Dunedin had helped the department. The buses travelled 5715 miles and earned £217 11s. 6d from 24,100 passengers, these figures representing increases of' £2l Is 7d and 1673 passengers. Details of the operations of the trams during. April were:—Main route: Mileage, 15,501; passengers, 123,686; fares, £991. Westown route: Mileage, 7171; passengers, 33,490; fares, £274 3s.
